As a career, Fred Dobbs began as a sculptor in the sand. Having competed for many years in sand sculpting competitions, he began sculpting as a professional sand sculptor in 1991 working full time for over 15 years. He continues working with sand to this day, balancing with his work as a fine artist.
For the past 10 years has practiced the art of mold making and casting in bronze, wax, cold cast polymers and concrete. This has progressed to producing several works in bronze.
Fred lives and works in Victoria BC where he is President of the Vancouver Island Sculptors Guild.

His Public Art includes 'Cammosung' on the Gorge Waterway, Saanich, BC. and the

Fred has been an Artishow Artist in Residence at the Delta Ocean Point
The sculptor is involved in public art exhibitions and walks including the Oak Bay Sculpture Walk, the Castlegar Sculpture Walk and Sculpture Splash in Esquimault.
